Surprisingly, this is a difficult one. Since we live here we don’t always take “trips”. But we’ve found some fun things I’ll share.
- Hochatown / Broken Bow – Every time we go, there’s something new. Our first trip was a secluded small cabin for just us two. The area has become very popular and there is so much to do.
- Talimena Drive – From Talihina, OK, to Mena, AR. A popular drive in the fall to see the changing colors.
- Robber’s Cave – We spent a cool autumn day at this park & enjoyed taking in the scenery.
- 45th Infantry Museum – particularly special to us since my husband is a veteran of this group. The 45th has an incredible history.
- State Capitol – It was important for me to take my daughter to our state Capitol.
- Eischens – I believe the oldest bar in Oklahoma. But the chicken and okra is worth the trip.
- Meers Restaurant – I don’t remember how old this restaurant is, and can’t believe I can’t find my pictures, but the burgers here are fantastic.
- Medicine Park – close by Meers, and the Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge. Making a great day trip. This small town has beautiful walking areas & cute shops.
- Route 66 – We’ve done a few different days driving parts of historic Route 66. While Pop’s isn’t one of the historic stops, it was super fun.
