Texas is a state we visit often. It is only 20 minutes from our house after all. There’s obviously a lot to do (Rangers, Cowboys, 6 Flags, Sea World) but here are specific highlights from some of our trips.
Dallas area
- Dealey Plaza & 6th floor museum – Be your own judge.
https://www.jfk.org/ - George W Bush Presidential Center – Stopped by here on a whim and glad we did.
https://www.bushcenter.org/ - Pocket Sandwich Theater – Do you enjoy laughs? How about getting into popcorn throwing fights with total strangers? This place is awesome. https://www.pocketsandwich.com/
- La Parisienne French Bistro – Found this gem on a girls’ day of shopping. Just adorable.
https://www.parisienneusa.com/ - Mount Carmel (aka Branch Davidian Compound) – So this is about 90 minutes outside of Dallas, but closer than San Antonio.
San Antonio Area
- Floating the river – There’s the Guadalupe or Comal rivers. Plenty of tube rental companies in the area.
- Gruene, Texas – Sounds like “Green”. Gruene Hall has a great history. The Gristmill Restaurant over looks the river. Overall, a very old town that was preserved frozen in time.
- See dinosaur Tracks – https://friendsofgovernmentcanyon.org/visit/dinosaur-tracks
- San Marcos – Stayed here one year with a group for a float trip. Found all kinds of fun things in the area.
- The Alamo – of course!
Fun things when enjoy often that may not be in the list of “well known”
- Allen Americas – minor league hockey
- Frisco Roughriders – minor league baseball
- Majestic Theater – high quality productions
