Interested in just the itinerary? Check out my itineraries page. Since this was our first “real” road trip, it’s a much shorter itinerary then our later trips.

Eureka Springs, AR

We’ve been back to Arkansas multiple times. See my other blog about Arkansas for other fun cities. But for this trip, here’s what we found in Eureka Springs.

  • Turpentine Wildlife Refuge – A big cat rescue. A great place for those who love tigers.

  • Adorable Downtown – The downtown area remains one of our favorites. We love quaint towns.
  • Haunted spots – If you’re interested in the paranormal, there are lots of places with spooky stories.
  • Prohibition history – There is a fun underground history of Eureka Springs in the Prohibition era.
  • Lunch train ride – Beautiful, peaceful, historical & yummy. A great time for all Ages.

  • Magnetic springs – a soothing place to sit & recharge those feet
  • Passion play & holy land tour – A massive production & interesting view into the Holy Lands.

Cosmic Cavern

Cosmic Caverns was a adventurous stop between Eureka Springs & Branson.

Branson, MO

  • Butterfly Garden – A particularly fun time for kids.

  • Adventure Zipline – just take the plunge. It’s an exciting time.

  • Putt Putt – pick any. This activity became a tradition for our trips.
  • SHOWS – So many to choose from. We did these two:
    • Sight & Sound Theater – it changes what the show is every so often, but it’s an experience that incorporates what feels like a 360 experience
    • Acrobats of China – not a popular show when we went. So we got GREAT seats, and it was very entertaining.
  • Titanic Museum – this was a must-do for us because my daughter was (& still is) obsessed with the story of the Titanic.
  • Ride a Duck – you get a tour of the town, some history, then a ride on the lake.

Wichita, KS

Wichita, Kansas, took an unexpected turn for us. We had some car trouble coming out of the Ozarks so we spent our time having an adventure trying to figure out a way home. But here are some of the items that were on our itenerary.

  • Downtown
  • Keeper of the Plains
  • Old Cowtown Museum
  • Botanica Gardens
  • Museums of World Treasures

Other stops in these states

Arkansas – Sadly, I can’t find pictures from these trips, but these were some of our favorites

  • Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art – An incredible art gallery surrounded by beautiful scenery. https://crystalbridges.org/
  • Hot Springs – Love visiting Hot Springs.
    • The Arlington – a historic hotel
    • Hot Springs National Park
    • Bath Houses – The only 2 remaining are Buckstaff & Quapaw
    • Horse Track – it’s a fun way to spend some time
    • Rocky’s – A restaurant with great pizza & salads across the street from the horse track
    • Taking a drive or hike through the mountains
    • Downtown – Yes, we love downtown areas.

Missouri – We came through St. Louis on our return home from another trip. Found some great BBQ & rode to the top of the Arch.
